An hour of intentional connection can make the world of a difference.
Social isolation and loneliness are public health risks that can be linked to adverse health consequences including depression, cognitive decline, poor cardiovascular function and impaired immunity for a significant portion of the older adult population.
Our Friendly Visiting Program aims to help socially isolated older adults and those who have limited abilities to socialize outside of their place of residence, stay connected and enjoy companionship with other people.
Our program matches seniors with volunteers who visit bi-weekly for 2 to 3 hours. These individuals are warm, kind and are interested in meeting new people and sharing new experiences
Companionship is the key and depending on their interests, the pair may chat, play a game, do a craft or discuss the news.
